Blog Hops (10/14/2011)

Welcome, fellow bloghoppers! You're looking at my personal blog, home to the rants and ramblings of an author. My book reviews on here, on a separate blog. Feel free to visit and follow both. Since last time, we've posted a review Gena Showalter's Twisted. Have fun hopping!

Book Blogger Hop

This weeks ice-breaker for the Book Blogger Hop:

“What is your favorite spooky book (i.e. mystery/suspense, thriller, ghost story, etc.)?”

Hmm. Well, that's a tough one, given that I generally don't read scary books. But, given the opportunity to broaden fellow bloggers' horizons, I can speak a little about scary video games. In this respect, I have a name for you: Jonathan Boakes. He's the U.K. indie developer behind Dark Fall, and was also involved in Barrow Hill and Scratches, both also creepy-as-hell games. Barrow Hill, in particular, kept me up all night scared out of my mind at... nah, won't spoil it. Give them a play, they were available on Steam last I checked.

This week's ice-breaker for TGIF @ GReads:

"Where do you grab a book and get lost in it? Show us your favorite spot you like to read at."

The bed in my bedroom. Which you can't see, as it's a mess. Actually, now that I think of it, I've been reading on that bed for all my life. It started with Mom reading me bedtime stories when I was 3 or so, and I've just kept up the habit on my own. I suppose you could say it's kind of a continuity with my childhood.

And that's all until next week! Have a look around, and happy hopping!

  1. Sadly I don't play video games! Not because I don't enjoy them - I've certainly wasted lots of time engrossed in games in the past - but precisely for that reason, I'd never get any reading done or talk to anyone: they're just too addictive!

I used to read in bed when I was a student, but I found that once I got in a common-law relationship, that was the end of reading in bed. I suppose because my bedroom was no longer "my space", but just a room where you sleep. So sad really. I have such fond memories of reading in bed and sometimes I try but people think I'm upset or there's something wrong or why would I be holed up in the bedroom?! Crazy I know. Ah the days when I had no concerns! I'm very envious you can still do it :)

  2. I hear you on the addiction factor. I was up until 4 A.M. last night on a small Kongregate offering called WarLight. It's a tricky one: you feel like you've been playing a half-hour, then you check the clock and realize it's actually been two hours. O_O;;;; Think I'll stick with Ultima 4 for the time being.

  3. I get scared easily during video games. I could never play Silent Hill at night. -.- Ahaha!

Another bed lover! It's just comfortable! As long as I don't fall asleep.

Thanks for stopping by and commenting on my blog!

  4. I don't think I could handle playing a scary video game. I would be totally freaked out!

  5. Thanks for stopping by my blog! I read in bed sometimes myself - but there's always a danger of falling asleep :-) My couch is actually about 3 feet away from the wall, but the room is rectangular, so it sort of forms a conversation area to the left of the fireplace with 2 chairs across from it - if that makes sense.

  6. PS - if you like werewolves, you might like the book I chose as my favorite spooky book, Those Across the River by Christopher Buehlman! ;-)

  7. Hmm... interesting, I hadn't heard of that one. Thanks for the heads up! ^_^
